Tis probably the hottest brunch cafe spot in Mid Town - Serving Australian-style coffees and brunch dishes. The entrance is decorated with plenty of plants and a red neon sign says "Ruby's".
The place is fully packed at 11am in the morning. Mostly (trendy) girls only. I love the warm wood tone decorations and furnitures there a lot.
There's no enclosed bar area, but an open marble counter with an espresso machine. The baristas will make you a cuppa coffee and hand to you right away.
I have to say their coffees are pretty good! Balanced notes (feels nutty and chocolate-like!) and the aroma is really great too.
I also ordered avocado toast with poached egg - it's quite regular I'd say.
Having 9 locations in the East Coast, by CHLOE. offers a range of freshly-made vegan dishes using locally-sourced, fresh ingredients. Its definitely one of the leading vegan lifestyle eatery/cafe/restaurant group in NYC.
The restaurant model feels like a fast-food place, yet in a more chill, relaxing environment.
For drinks I tried the "Purple Rain", which is a mixture of berries, bananas, almond milk, etc. The drink is a bit thick but tastes delicious.
For food i ordered "Guac burger" and LOVE IT! It has the traditional guacamole, lettuce, corn, onion, tomato and some beans paste. The buns are lightly pan-fried, crispy inside. Very fulfilling!
📍: Union Fare
This restaurant is a bakery and a restaurant - extremely famous on Instagram for their colorful and delicious croissants!
From their freshly baked pastry selections, I picked the Red Velvet Croissant!
After a bite, the custard inside is flowing out! The crispy croissant gives a crunchy contrast to the soft inner filings. I'd say this croissant is the MOST DELICIOUS croissant i've ever tried.
One of the greatest food trends in North America is...MATCHA! It has become the "healthy" substitute of coffee/coke, giving a natural anti-oxidant and awakening power! In NYC, there's one popular spot called Cha Cha Match, offering perfect matcha-based drinks and "instagrammable" backdrop for the young crowd.
The walls inside the cafe are covered with "Cha Cha" posters and artworks. There's also a neon green wall saying "Matcha Gracias", which you'd probably see all over Instagram.
The menu is quite simple. Matcha-based drinks & Coffees only.
They also served a range of vegan bread and pastries...
I ordered the classic iced Matcha Latte. The matcha powder used here is quite refined and rich in flavor.
One of the most famous specialty coffee roastery in the States. This Stumptown Coffee Roaster is located at the Ground Floor of the Ace Hotel New York.
Their coffee beans are imported from direct trade with producers.
They also serve their signature cold brew coffees in different bottles or cartons. They begin this idea quite early and now this packaged coffee is widely spread to all parts of the world.
The latte i ordered is good, just a little watery compared to my regular preference.
Close to China Town, this cafe is a petite space but I love it's purple and white interior.
There are only a few tables inside this cafe, so the business model is mostly for takeaways.
I ordered a latte and am immediately in love with the bones-monogram cup! The coffee tastes okay too.
I haven't seen anything like this in Asia! I am a huge fan for Greek yogurt myself - but never thought of anything like this. A DIY Greek yogurt bar.
The interior of the shop is quite spacious. A very white space with merchandise shelvings in dark wood and rock elements.
The idea is that you can pick the size of the yogurt bowl (which is a clay pot), and then you can pick the toppings you want. This time for toppings i picked the Fig, dates, walnets and strawberry jam. The overall combination is quite nice, just the weather is a bit too cold for having this cool pot.
The place to visit! If you like food and would like to have different kinds in a meal! You can find all sorts of vendors in this market, from coffee shops, to bakery, cheese shop, ice-cream parlor, seafood market to italian restaurants...etc.
For an avid seafood lover like me, just go directly to the lobster place. It's a mini seafood market, not comparable to those in Taipei or Japan, but at least you get to eat the fresh steamed seafood and oysters, and some sushi rolls and cooked dishes too!
We ordered one lobster per person and paired it with butter and beer! Unbeatable!
After the lobster, we moved to the oyster and shellfish station customers can pick their own combination of platter.
We ordered12 oysters by our choice and unfortunately very single one we picked were very salty...Next time we better consult the staff there.
There's one cult favorite dessert place called MILK BAR. This place is a bakery famous for its cookies and soft serves.
And what's so special about it's flavors? Their B-day Cake truffles and cakes are very popular. Glossier New York even adapts this flavor as their inspiration for their scented lip balm.
Beside that, the Cereal Milk soft serve with crunches is a must-try! I ordered this and finished 75% before rushing to dinner. A very rich milk flavor ice-cream that everybody will say YES.
Many might ask: where is the best rooftop bar to take a panoramic photo of the Manhattan skyline? The answer is Hotel 50 Bowery NYC. It's located pretty close to the China Town.
It's a rainy afternoon, so the view isn't as clear as i wish but still the skyline is still here.
Music and drinks...on a rainy afternoon :)
Yet I managed to get this snap! Happy ending to my New York food exploration :)
Hope you enjoy my sharing!Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
